The Brooklyn Navy Yard Nurses Quarters (Building RG) is one of the most overlooked abandoned buildings in NYC.

Constructed in 1919, this building is well hidden, and slowly decaying away on the Northeast corner of the hospital campus. (this hospital is a campus within the overall Brooklyn Navy Yard campus). It is a two winged structure, whose main feature is a very fancy looking lobby that has maintained a dignified look despite the slow death consuming this structure.

The future of this building is significantly less assured that that of the other structures in this, the last remaining abandoned section of the Navy Yard. It is in arguably worse shape, and despite being over one hundred years old, it is one of the youngest buildings with in the hospital. It also takes up a very large footprint in terms of real estate.

NOTE: It sometimes takes a short while for comments to be approved - unfortunately there's a lot of spam comments that come in. I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
