Asian supermarkets in Flushing are AWESOME. I’m not even kidding. The produce is good and cheap, the obscure asian sauces are baffling, and where else in NYC can you buy live turtles for your soup? (actually, that last one is kinda disturbing).
Many of the products on the shelves do have some English on the packaging, so no one should feel too lost in here. Many of the ingredients, also, are surprisingly (or maybe not surprisingly) not bogged down in all the chemical crap us Americans have come to expect and dread. However, clearly in the case of Carp, some of the spelling and intent is lost in translation.
