Mystery Tunnel Recon

Those of you that know what this is all about will probably appriciate these recon style photos. Those of you that don't, well, you'll learn a little about it just by looking at this...

Here we see a seemingly dead end tunnel

Yet a signal faces this dead end perhaps 3 carlengths from the end of the tunnel. This is to say the least, not normal.

Here we see a homeball signal facing said dead end on another track. Again, it makes no sense for this to be here.

Here we see crossties that once supported a switch and rails... only the rails ahve been pulled from the side tunnel.

The side tunnel dead ends, and here we see yet another signal facing the dead end. Why is this here?

Why indeed, unless the dead end is abrupt and hiding something. Here we see the cinderblock dead end wall, with dirt behind it. Stick a shovel in the hole and you'll get a scoop of clean dirt... Why?

The cable vault in the wall under the trackshelf ends at the wall abruptly. Was this done before or after the cinderblock wall arrived?

PHONOH on the dead end wall. It is the only cinderblock wall in this area. What's behind it?

Signal schematics suggest more tunnel

As does the tower board... ...so just what do we have here? Hopefully someday, this entire post will be nothing but foreshadowing and the mystery will be resolved.
