SCH Chemical: Part Deuce
When I first went to this place, only half of it was accessible. the other half was active, or at least mostly active. I later heard from some explorers that you could get into the other half, but I never got around to it until one day I was in that area doing a shoot. There was an opening into the place, so we went in to do some photos - just for shits and giggles. Everything was nice and dry and old. A few weeks later, I walked by the same place again and found a huge ice formation on the side of the building. I had to go in and find out why... so eventually I did, and found that it wasn't so much due to a leak in the roof as it was due to the pipes having burst. The calendars on the walls all were left on spring pages from last year, so the building had not gone one winter without being occupied and cared for, until now. I dug in and wandered around for hours, reading the files, bouncing the tennis balls around, wondering why the elevator alarm randomly sounded despite it being stuck in the lobby jammed with ice... eventually I left with 130+ photos and a newfound appreciation for spending a lot of time in one building getting the full effect, and this place - it had a lot of effect...

Aborted pipes

Dropped ceiling, dropping due to the weight of the ice accumulating on top of it.

Tennis, anyone?

Up top is this rail car type crane - typical of a building that was originally a power plant.

Architecture up top. It just doesn't get nicer than this.

Iced over first floor. yes, that is a ladder and laundry basket sunk in and stuck in the ice.

Statue randomly located in a section of the building that looked as if it was unused since the 1970s, at least.

Office. Staplers and other supplies still on the desk.

Ice stalactites on top of dropped ceiling. the copy machine in the rear was completely frosted over as well.

No graf, no broken windows. Pristine. I pray it stays that way.

Iced over lobby.

To borrow a quote from some asylum graffiti, I must say this about being in this building: left alone with nothing but my mind, digital, and a 256mb memory card, it was obvious that sooner or later one of these would run...

OUT.
