GTW NYC
This location is just a part of a much larger complex of warehouse buildings, one of which was previously inspected and posted about here.

For years, ever since I first pasted by it in the late 1990's, parts of this location were both active and secured. The place has been use for photo and film shoots. GQ magazine recently used the place. 8mm, a movie with Nichalos Cage, also used this setting. Once behind the gates, entering the buildings is child's play. All the doors are either unlocked or have been smashed in rather violently. Indeed, one area looks like it was attacked by fighter jets. I haven't seen a street so smashed and obliterated since the south bronx was on fire in the late 70's. Shocking but true though is the fact that this location is considered good real estate and has been appraised by a few companies for as low as $3 million and as high as $12.

It is one of the last, if not the last, large scale industrial space in NYC that has not been redeveloped.

Peeping the gate

The street view of just a portion of this complex.

Heh heh. Willie. Apparently Willie was a drunk, as the Beatle Bailey comics on the locker denoted the Sarge as Wille, Drinking lots of beer.

A nother locker contained both an image of Jesus and many newspaper clipped photos of women in 50's style bikini's in fashion shows (weighing about 15 pounds more than what models today are... Shit... give me one of them over the stick figure ethic of today...

Nice of them to leave some lights on for us....

Warehouse space. I love the old metal doors...

Finally finding a way to the roof, one can take in this view. photo is extra long exposure since it was pitch black except for the skyline. Oh wait, I forgot, i should be more worried about "dead pixels" than actual results? (poke, poke!)

Security cameras? Dogs? Really? I like both... do you mind if I see for myself?

The abandoned street view. Light in the distance is only about halfway back out to the active street.

There is no light here. Just large, dark, crumbling structures and a pier that once hosted a fire boat station which seems to have long ago sank into the east river.

Elevator's here.

Impassable steps. Worse than glenwood - and I didn't think that was possible!

Bottle inside says "Special Ink"

The moon. the sloping pile in front of the skyline is debris and collapsed walls from the buildings.
