The only reason I bothered to explore this place is because of the political comedy it represents. It also proved to be a fun place to fuck around with crazy light photos, but that’s beside the point.
This is how city hall treats Queens: with complete neglect.
Queens, an ‘outer borough’ of NYC, is a city unto itself, albeit one that is severely neglected when it comes to infrastructure. Subway service is spotty and doesn’t service at least a third of the population. Roads go un-repaved, snow is barely removed in the winter, and entire neighborhoods flood whenever it rains due to faulty sewer lines. These day to day indignities pail in comparison though to the absolute farce going down literally right behind borough hall – where a massive 500 spot parking garage was so neglected for so long it had to be closed, with no reasonable alternate parking solution provided. They have since demolished the structure and vague plans to replace it with a new garage or flat parking lot have been talked about in the press.
This structure had notable structural issues since 2009. It’s disgusting to think they kept parts of the garage open for years afterwards without making any plans at all to replace it or what to do in the months and years that it would take to replace it. This is how city hall treats Queens: with complete neglect. The proof is right there behind borough hall.
