Burning down the house…

ASS: Assorted Subway Shenanigans
The L Train tunnel is now the first sub-aquatic NYC subway tunnel to feature internet service. The only thing missing from this announcement was Cuomo standing around in the tunnel downloading porn.

A New Jersey Transit rider got stuck in a layup yard and why the fuck didn’t they go explore the joint? Perfect excuse. I’d pay a nickel to be in that situation. A FULL NICKEL! DURING A COIN SHORTAGE!

That New Tunnel… Smell?
Warszawa has a new ‘space station like’ underground passage and why the fuck is there a Fat Ron’s in there? Who built this thing, Elon Musk?

The cost of the new ‘Gateway’ tunnels keeps increasing and one really must wonder why? Part of the cost is associated with real estate buys, and the price of real estate in NYC should be dropping, considering how many people are leaving and how few offices will ever operate at full capacity again.

Switzerland’s new Ceneri Base Tunnel is opening and hey look the train tunnel p0rn. The tunnel will reportedly see up to 170 freight trains and 180 passenger trains per day, making its opening a BIG FUGGIN DEAL.

ACAB & Co.
A daughter of “rich” parents partook in a window smashing spree and now (of course) the NY Post is trying to shame her. Fighting for social justice should be a cause for everyone. It literally should not matter that she’s had a comfortable upbringing. You don’t need to be Black to say Black Lives Matter, and Cop-aganda is always trash. ALWAYS.

That NYC Shit
This dude hanging off the back of an NYC Express bus might look crazy to some of you young whipper snappers but this was a standard way of getting around in the 70s and 80s.

Surprise surprise a garbage consulting company that sucks off the teet of government contracts has proposed burying the Port Authority Bus Terminal underground, with tall skyscrapers built above it. Because NYC needs moar big empty buildings plz!

LOL DeBlasio says someone else will have to make the BQX streetcar happen. How about no? And how about you go back to Boston you big dumb GALLOOT!.

Shorty’s short Shorts
Bummer: This former Maytag factory in Illinois is going to be reused.

The old Trump Casino in Atlantic City will be imploded on January 29, 2021. yes that’s right after he will hopefully be ejected from office and perhaps even this planet. Yeet that orange turd into the sun.

An abandoned Lions Club in Texas is going to become an aid location for homeless people, and fuck yes, I hope they succeed.

Residents of both Chicago and Jersey City are still pissed off at Hilco for their surprise demolition implosions in both cities. No one should be surprised that during an era of Trump’s “Fuck All Non-Millionaires” philosophy, a company like Hilco is comfortable running wild across multiple states on what amounts to an environmental terrorists rampage.

OH and let’s not forget the corporate democrats here either: Hilco’s CEO, Jeffrey B. Hecktman, has donated money over the years to Chuck The Schmuck Schumer, Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. And Romney too! Oh how I miss 2012!

In a moment of absolute literary genius, Uhrichsville Police Sgt. Brandon McCray stated that “The best way to keep spooky people with backpacks from coming in and out of abandoned houses is to make that abandoned house disappear off the face of the planet”. Seeking clarity, we emailed this cop to find out if he would recommend Hilco or perhaps someone from Hogwarts to make these houses ‘disappear’. Unfortunately we have not heard back (perhaps we shouldn’t have sent the email from Antifa headquarters?).

An extremely toxic ‘bando in Ohio is finally slated to be taken down, assuming it doesn’t fully collapse on itself before 2021. I mean why the fuck even bother? Just look at the dumb thing.

Could NYC’s first dead mall be the newest one built? The new retail outlets stores built near the Staten Island Ferry are behind on payments to the city and state, which spent a ton of taxpayer money underwriting its construction. If we had a real city government they would simply take ownership of the property and rent it out for cheap to tiny businesses. Instead we have the city EDC. Everything they EDC touches turns to shit.

Bando BBQ
A massive abandoned church in Rockford was likely set on fire this past week. It was later determined that the 150 year old structure was a complete loss.

A large former strip club in Ohio also burned down last week. The state was going to auction that sucker with a starting bid of only $220k! Pretty sure I know someone who would get in on that action.

International Update
According to the CIA, there’s a whole lotta secret tunnel under Poland.

Ok New Zealand we already love Jacinda, there’s no reason to pander to us even more.

Yeap, its a list-icle of old ass bandos in Scotland. Also in England, cops are big mad that they literally cannot stop people from exploring this old bowling alley.

The UK underground is basically one huge fatberg now. “A spokesman said: โ€œWe clear 40,000 blockages across our network every single year โ€“ that equates to one blockage roughly every five minutes.”. And THEY ARE GROWING.

This mystery tunnel into a bank’s basement continues to be quite the story without any real answers as to why it was built.

The abandoned resort city of Varosha is still rotting away, yet it may see visitors soon.

Environmentalist in London are pushing for the new Silvertown tunnel project to be cancelled because it doesn’t jive with their emissions reduction plans.

Mon Dieu! Did you know that women in France can get a stiffer sentence for being topless than if they were running track in the Paris Metro? What am I missing here? Since when are tiddies a crime? At least here in NY it’s perfectly legal for women to be topless anywhere.

Every damn problem on this planet can be traced back to a lack of boobies.

An abandoned experimental Proton Perdana car was found by urban explorers in the UK, and as it turns out, it was owned by a former Prime Minister of Malaysia. No word on if Zoolander was involved, though honestly who could blame him? ๐Ÿ˜›

And that’s a Wrap:
SO: I recently dug through some old copies of a zine I put twenty years ago, and the one thing I truly miss from cranking out that publication was the collaboration. Every issue featured a rotating cast of a dozen or more collaborators. Some of them were involved in every issue, others appeared whenever the mood struck them, and I, as lead of the team, added a bunch but also stepped back and let others run a little wild.

I miss those days.

NOTE: It sometimes takes a short while for comments to be approved - unfortunately there's a lot of spam comments that come in. I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
