Eager to get on the road again…

The Fatberg that sank Southeast Queens
“A blocked pipe sent sewage flooding into at least 80 homes in a Queens neighborhood on Saturday, with city officials pointing to a familiar culprit on the heels of Thanksgiving: cooking grease poured down a drain.” So, where’s that army of Fatberg eating drones when we need them eh?

Holiday Weekend Developer Vandalism
Over Thanksgiving weekend, the ‘Flatiron building of Long Island’, an amazing old Art Deco former bank building was destroyed to make way for a fucking car dealership. Aerofennec has some great videos of the demolition in progress, and what was lost inside the gem of a building. It is baffling that they leveled this entire building in a single weekend. Rumor are abound that it was not properly asbestos abated, and the videos speak for themselves as to how rushed and dangerous this demo job was.

Graffiti Museum
Miami now has a graffiti museum, curated by former NYC subway recidivist Alan Ket. Unfortunately it’s not located inside a subway car, though who knows—those R32 and M3 cars are gunna be retired damn soon. Fuck it let’s just open our own damn graffiti museum. Place a whole damn train of R32s right on Broadway. Close the whole damned thing to traffic.

Squatters saved from Bando Fire
With all those grim deaths last week, let’s start December on a better note eh? Firefighters in South Fort Worth, Texas, saved FIVE squatters from a ‘bando church annex that went up in flames.

Also getting in on this action were Canadian firefighters, who got a homeless person out of a former ignition factory. Yes, you read that right and no I don’t always have to make this shit up!

Blow the house down
Big Mama Nature ain’t playing bish. She went and blew some debris off a bando roof in Grand Rapids, MI.

Gary Indiana Schools Update
It seems the Gary Housing Authority is now trying to buy its bando schools, to maybe convert to housing instead of letting more dead bodies pile up.

Bank Robbery Climb Fail
Up in Astoria (NYC), some fool robbed a bank and then tried to climb off the elevated Broadway N Line platform. Of course he fell and hurt himself. Not only that, he was climbing off the end of the platform closer to McDonalds instead of the end closer to Parisi Bakery. If he was down that fresh bread smell would have given him super powers. Fuck how y’all think I survived my teen years?

ONE LESS BANDO!
Corporate advertising giant WPP has leased out a formerly abandoned office space in The D.

Bando BBQ!
“The longer (a building) sits there being untouched, its going to deteriorate even further,” Panama City Fire Department Fire Chief Alexander Baird said. “It’s going to be a risk — not just a fire, but for people that could wander in it and the building could come down on them.” If you’re a regular reader of this newsletter, you already know this shit.

International Update
Meanwhile, in Syria, it was discovered that ISIS built a secret tunnel under an Armenian church in Raqqa. It begs the question: why is it that our governments can’t build tunnels without a few billion dollars and the bad guys can do it for free??

Italy is using abandoned homes in small villages to attempt to draw tourists to the countryside.

The BBC is all up in this Fatberg shit! Go ahead and watch that two minute video—you know you can’t get enough of these boggy subterranean filth monsters. Not interested? How about this story about a fatberg that washed up on a beach—which some brits took to go run tests on it. What the what?! Why? Just Yeet that shit down Boris Johnson’s throat.

In London, a small protest was held against the construction of a new tunnel. Damn England wtf are you even doing these days?

Also in the UK: “Graffiti vandals, Satanists and arsonists trash historic RAF base“. Now THAT is a quality headline right there. Serious journalism! beware! Satanists! Seriously, how is this even a news story?

Meanwhile, up in Canada, Derp McDerp Pharmaceutical company bought some warehouses filled with plastic garbage and now they’re pressing town officials trying to dump it all in their landfill for cheap. Can you fucking imagine? Did they not look inside the place when they bought it? I’d charge them triple just for asking.

A tiny Czech town did something absolutely amazing with their abandoned church and I want to go there immediately.

AND THAT’S A WRAP.
I’ll be on the road all this coming week so next week’s newsletter will probably be later than usual. That said, you can always catch the stories on my IG, as I *might* be doing to some fun places with crazy people.

I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
