Parkway hospital, located in Forest Hills was the only privately owned hospital in New York City. It was forced to close by the New York State.
Over the last twenty years, NYC has been hit hard by hospital closures. These closures have lead to a shoestring system that could not meet the strain of the Covid-19 Pandemic of 2020. This page will serve as a catalog of nearly all the hospitals and health care facilities that were abandoned in the NYC area. The sheer volume of posts that will fill this section will serve to highlight the absolute depth of this problem, and the various ways it cumulated into it's present barely functional system. This entire section of this website is dedicated to the over 20k New Yorkers who passed away during this pandemic.

In 2012, I adventured on up to Hudson Psych with the two goon brothers on a mission to explore as much of the place as we could in a single day.
On January 31st, 2015, a massive fire ripped through a warehouse on the Brooklyn waterfront that contained troves of government records. Some of these were records from Building G – one of NYC’s most notorious psych ward. This highly suspicious fire involved an early morning FDNY response to a small fire, which rekindled and exploded […]

Publish Date: 8/7/2005 We make our way around and find an entrance right by a security trailer. This security trailer… it bugs me out a bit. I can’t tell if anyone is in it, but I know someone’s in this building we’re heading for. You can just sorta feel that sort of thing sometimes. You […]
The octagon was NYC’s first mental health hospital. It was closed in the 1970s and was set on fire multiple times. The wings of the building were knocked down, leaving only ‘the octagon’ shaped building that was previously the main entrance.
It’s a warm summer night and we’re waiting, lurking in the dark along the shore of Roosevelt Island. Tonight we’ve got a crew 6 deep with a single target: the old Goldwater Hospital on Roosevelt Island. One of dozens of NYC area hospitals to have ended up on our abandoned hit list.
Sea View Hospital Children’s Ward is a building I’ve been exploring for over 15 years now. That makes it a very rare breed. Offhand I’m hard pressed to think of any substantially sized abandoned buildings within NYC City Limits that have remained in a state of abandonment for so long.
