Abandoned Station Entrance: Bowery
September 4th, 2013 by Bad Guy JoeA decade ago, myself and ntwrkguy were the first to explore the newly abandoned queens-bound Bowery station. Since that time, this station and tunnel became something of a tourist attraction: an easy spot for beginners to enter and get a taste of what the NYC Subway system has to offer.
This is not to say that this tunnel didn't hold secrets. This entrance, for example is one of two that remained locked up for awhile and never seen by anyone other than true subway exploring masters. I recent heard that access was breached, so the teaming masses will likely post plenty of photos of this place in the months and years to come. It is rare, in pristine condition, complete with an original token booth, and will surely be destroyed by inept toy graffiti writers with crappy paint, stock caps and no handstyles - which is a shame. This space would have been better off sealed up or creatively reused for a bar or something.
Thus it is with some sadness that we reveal these photos, before the inevitable destruction takes hold.
Update: Believe it or not, the MTA locked this place up tight again after this post, and so far as we know it remains hidden away, locked up as a time capsule back to when this route was much more widely used.

the bathroom looks like some shit from the saw movie real talk
It’s crazy what they did to that stair that became the emergency exit. Too bad the other one is completely destroyed now though.
