What’s The Goss?!
Stooping” is now apparently a thing. I guess you can rebrand anything these days, even trash picking. Back in the day I would routinely pick up ‘old’ computers off the streets of LIC and Astoria, reselling them online or donating them for tax deductions. The streets are lined with trash gold, ready to be mined by anyone determined enough. Thanks for coming to my TED talk see y’all next week.

Oh way there’s bando shit to talk about right?

What did I tell y’all last week about NYC Manhole fires? Finally one took out electricity and caused enough chaos on the upper east side for the NY Times to realize maybe just maybe some of their readers might be affected by this, vs. all the other manholes blowing up in poorer neighborhoods.

This story about explorers in the UK seeing a ghost is next level “why is this a news story” content.

ACAB
NYPD doesn’t want some of their responsibilities taken away but they also don’t want to do that job completely anyway so seriously who cares what they think? Since when do they run city government?

Robot Dogs are probably a handy tool for cops but you know who needs a handy tool? Homeless people. That tool? A fucking bed and a shower. Both cost far, far less than some niche robot dog that will just sit in a basement and be trotted out once in a blue moon for some rare edge case crime.

Speaking of the homeless, I rate this whole article on the recent subway stabbing spree as some top notch liberal copaganda. The article snidely remarks that NYPD’s Homeless Outreach Unit was disbanded (as though that was a bad thing: they could only arrest homeless, not actually help them), and how bail reform kept Rigoberto Lopez from being jailed (bail had nothing to do with this. Rikers Island is not a place where mentally unwell persons should be dumped). Every mentally unwell homeless person is a policy failure. NYC has had this problem for decades and yet our only answer is to throw more Candy Crush playing cops at the problem, or to toss them in jail for a few weeks and pretend that we solved it. It’s embarrassing.

Shorty’s Short Shorts
A tunnel boring machine heading to Virginia will be named after Mary Jackson and I’m all for that shit.

Another PennsaTucky town is trying to rip down its abandoned buildings though if cats are living in them, that shit’s not abandoned yo.

Bando BBQ—Fire and Ice Edition
Smokeeaters in Topeka saved a squatter woman from a burning commercial building and this just reminds me of a few weeks ago when their fire chief was talking about ‘bando building squatter fires being a big problem there.

A tiny crap bando in Phoenix and a big ass bando in Ohio were burned to a crisp late last week. Both of these news stories contain some good video footage of the incidents.

International Update
The HS2 protest tunnel’s population has slowly dropped over the last two weeks until finally ending late last week. One of the latest diggers to be evicted was Dr. Larch Maxey who now faces some trumped up ‘aggravated trespass’ charges, which he completely denies.

Neighbors of the new Beaches Link tunnel in Australia are going full NIMBY on the environmental impacts of constructing this new tunnel,

MALAKA! A real old bando building in Athens collapsed, and an old cotton mill in Canada had a partial roof collapse. The mill may or may not survive though it seems the community rather see it fixed up than torn down.

And that’s a wrap…
Every day this week it seems democrats are self-owning. Narrowing who gets stimulated, refusing to raise the minimum wage, backpedaling on cancelling student debt. There’s no party that represents actual working people in this country anymore (not that we’ve had one, at least in my lifetime…).

NOTE: It sometimes takes a short while for comments to be approved - unfortunately there's a lot of spam comments that come in. I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
