Dark Days & Spooky Times

What’s The Goss?!
There is only one story to talk about: Don’t go to the Bronx bro the sidewalks will feed you to the Rats below!

Seriously tho: many older buildings in NYC have utility and old coal vaults under their sidewalks. If not properly maintained, they occasionally collapse. Unfortunately for this fellow, the space was filled with rodents. On the plus side maybe Cellino can get his new firm running by suing the city and building owners!

Speaking of Rats, the National Labor Review Board is trying to outlaw Scabby The Rat. Fuck these motherfuckers! You come for Scabby, you come for NYC!

Follow Up On Last week’s trash
As with all things NYC, the biggest idiots don’t seem to learn their lessons these days. Everyone’s favorite failed bridge climber/Coomer Sm**th S*nchez was out and about over the weekend harassing people for his garbage video channel. Where are all those ‘tough on crime’ types now, while we’ve got this accused woman assaulter wandering the streets?

That New Tunnel Smell
Listen you need to drop what you’re doing right now and check out this amazing article on the tunnel boring machines of New Zealand. This will be you: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

London underground’s newest tube is now completely dug out. Meanwhile, NJ could have had new tunnels into NYC ten years ago but they still playing (all kidding aside this was the right move, those tunnels were a boondoggle idea, an east side access part two).

Sydney’s new NorthConnex tunnel opened up last week.

A new road tunnel just opened in Iceland: “The new tunnel shortens the distance between Ísafjörður and Reykjavík by 27 km (17 mi).” Maybe next they’ll open a tunnel to jkasdfkljasdfkjl;kua?

Shorty’s Short Shorts
This story out of Mass, about an actual drug trafficking kingpin who was found dead in an abandoned building, is surprisingly bereft of details. Dude owned a converted firehouse, had millions in cash, and owned dozens of cars. He was living the life (a life I once dabbled in). Sounds like he must have seriously pissed someone off though.

This video, of a dude breaking into a prison island, is fucking hilarious and awesome.

Looks like a New Orleans homeowner used the cover of Hurricane Zeta to rip out a few joints and collapse the ‘bando next door. I’m saying looks like because this is pure speculation—which is way more fun than just assuming this ugly ass thing collapsed on it’s own.

The USS Ling is no longer going to head to Louisville. This submarine, currently in New Jersey, was made a bit more famous when two idiot explorers swam out to it, looted some stuff, and left a hatch open that later flooded the interior. Somehow the trial is still pending.

An unfinished high rise in Jacksonville might be imploded because Florida.

This story, about Burger King apparently running a contest to get photos of abandoned spooky burger kings is… WTF is this even literally?

Some shitbag ‘bando owner equipped his bando with motion activated sensors, then had two derps caught and arrested for entering the building. Cops “arrived on the scene and reported several points of entry.” – idk dude maybe instead of covering a place in cameras you should just maybe BUY SOME FUCKEN DOORS?

In The D, the old Packard plant may be demolished to make way for new buildings… if any tenants can be around. Apparently the owner is very behind on taxes so if I were to bet a nickel, I would say the Packard will be around for a good many years to come.

A Yacht club in Port Huron somehow came to own an abandoned RR drawbridge and it looks like they’re finally being allowed to take it down.

Bando BBQ
Fresno just sounds like a city filled with abandoned strip malls and storefronts that keep bursting into flames.

International Update
Oooo spoooky bando bath house in the UK much wow.

London Underground’s not so secret secret tunnel gets a bit more press. What’s more terrifying though is this 10 ton fatberg!

Trespass tourism is OUT OF CONTROL in Canada. OMG!

And that’s a Wrap:
It’s just one day before the election as I write this and it is as if the whole planet is holding it’s breath. If you haven’t voted yet, you know the deal. If you’ve never volunteered on a grassroots level to push real progress, now is still the time. Regardless of who wins, it is up to all of us to make this a better world, even if we have to drag the lesser educated half this country kicking and screaming into the future.

Shoutout to Joseph C for sending me that Vagrant Holiday link.

Shout out to all y’all for surviving another week in this shitstorm of 2020. Give yourselves some credit.

NOTE: It sometimes takes a short while for comments to be approved - unfortunately there's a lot of spam comments that come in. I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
