This is quite possibly the most unknown, undocumented section of subway tunnel currently available.
What we have here is a provisional tunnel, built with the intent of connecting it to a whole new subway route which unfortunately was never built.
It’s almost impossible to find, and for the moment we’re not going to give any real clues. Mysteries like this one keep people exploring. Not everything needs to be detailed online. The best finds are the ones you come across in person or are introduced to via peers (whose trust you’ve earned)
Indeed, we’d never have known about it if it wasn’t for the amazing persistence of some of the older cats out there. As I like to say, if we seem large sometimes, it’s because it’s on the shoulders of giants.
Angling for that shoe sponsorship…
Water gets through any hole down here…
Would be a good place to play with lights – there’s no light at all down here.
PS: If you know where this is, don’t comment. To the guy that called us dickheads for not approving your tell all comment, sorry but not sorry. Instead of proving your knowledge you just proved you’re an insolent little derp that can’t keep his mouth shut.
tell me where it is. I will not go after you
I have been trying to figure this one out for years and havent figured it out yet. Im going insane. TunnelRat says he took you. Lucky!
TunnelRat is a tunnel god. He knows about spots that the MTA doesn’t even know exists.
Looks like you managed to get into the flyover. That place is wild
Been there a few times, just never posted it. Spots like this are what makes NYCs subways awesome.
I would like to know this location and what line it’s off?
The never used proposed subway to LIRR Rockaway Branch cross-over from S/B R line @ 63rd Drive crossing under the Queens Corridor to the wall provision just north of the 63rd Drive station?
Control, Bad Guy Joe and the LTV Squad:
I owe you all an apology. I do all my internet surfing on my cellphone (small screen) and I give you my sincere word that I missed your P.S.at the bottom under your last photo where you said “PS: If you know where this is, don’t comment.” Had I seen it I would have happily honored your request and not posted the location. All I can say is I BLEW IT! 100% MY FAULT. I APOLOGIZE AND TAKE BACK THE ‘DICKHEAD’ INSULT. I’m a NYC Transit Tower Operator and I have an enormous (secret) knowledge of our system as well as the LIRR. I have authored two books on NYC Transit called “TWELVE HISTORICAL NEW YORK CITY STREET AND TRANSIT MAPS – VOLUMES 1 and 2”. I have privately visited an overwhelming majority of the locations you post about. The only difference between us is I’m track safety certified and do my system walks during service shutdowns…It’s safer that way. Quite frankly I’m surprised we’ve never bumped into each other during jaunts. I love your photo essays and hope you continue posting them. If you have any questions I am happy to answer them.
