Abandoned Homes and Hotels

In a city of over eight million people, there are bound to be abandoned homes. In recent times the majority of these are single family homes, though we occasionally see entire apartment buildings—rendered useless by real estate ‘developer’ scammers, rezonings and greed. There is often a strong desire from the billionaire class to make rent regulated apartments so unlivable that buildings require complete tear downs, so they can be replaced with cheaply built ‘luxury’ apartments that end up jacking up everyone’s rent.

Below you’ll find a sampling of all manner of abandoned living spaces, and the varied reasons of how they came to be, and sometimes what they eventually became.
