‘Bando News and Messy Views
The MTA put out a report about trespassers and boy howdy is it fun. “20 percent of the intrusions during the first four months of 2022 involved people with mental illness”. HEY NOW, I RESEMBLE THAT COMMENT! “Choice was a factor with MTA stating most incidents start with someone choosing to go onto the tracks.”

This is a fantastic time to remind you all that your moments of decision will shape your future. You can chose to go on adventures anywhere, anytime. You can chose not to pay the fare and give the cops the finger (they won’t notice, they’re busy on the phone.) You can chose to run track, or not. The power to chose is yours and yours alone. Enjoy and stay safe my fellow goons.

Also in MTA news, the governor is trying to rebrand East Side Access into “Grand Central Madison“. Uh… why tho? Why not just call it Grand Central? Or even better, Grand Central Lawn Guyland Trash Chute?

Two MBTA trains collided and the photos of random civilians taking selfies in the tunnels are legit awesome.

Remember the old Bat Cave in Gowanus? It’s about to reopen as an arts center.

And if you were looking to explore this tunnel in the Twin Cities, well, does anyone actually respond when the intrusion system is set off?

Check out this really cool exploration of an old British Airways training facility.

Work on making Odesa’s tunnels livable continues despite Russia’s failed attempt to destroy their neighbor.

Lake Mead is drying up, dead bodies, crashed cars and various ruins are resurfacing. This isn’t the last we’re going to hear about this sort of thing, as climate disaster takes hold.

Check out this Colorado tourist trap that is now a bando. Love how this part of the country has such weird ridiculous roadside bandos.

Some sick bastard abducted, chained up, abused and apparently left a woman in an abandoned house in Chicago.

Sometimes when you try to fix up a bando the bando fights back: a very well known former ice house in the South Bronx is being converted and the construction site has claimed three lives already.

New Zealand and Australia have put forth new rules about all things flush-able, in an effort to cut down on fatbergs. I sure do hope there’s some good Cave Clan stickers made to commemorate this.

The Dead & Near Dead
Detroit cops are seeking out information on a cold case—where a man was found dead in an abandoned building.

New Tunnels
Horrible news out of India: “Rescuers have found the body of one worker in Indian-controlled Kashmir after part of a tunnel collapsed in the Himalayan region and are continuing to search for nine others who are trapped, officials said Friday. The tunnel is part of a mountainous highway tunnel system that was under construction when it collapsed Thursday night in the southern Ramban district.” Unfortunately, the missing workers were all found dead. RIP sandhogs. This article has a good overview of why India’s building these tunnels.

Italian firm Webuild has celebrated the latest tunnelling breakthrough on the Brenner Base Tunnel project. The Brenner Base Tunnel, which is still under construction, will be the longest railway tunnel in the world at 64km. It runs under the Alps and will connect Verona, Italy, and Munich, Germany via Innsbruck, Austria.

Concrete rings are being molded for the new Hampton Roads tunnel down in Virginia.

Not a new tunnel, but Lincoln, Nebraska has refreshed a tired, near abandoned-ass pedestrian tunnel under some train tracks… and added a graffiti mural to it as well.

Fort Lauderdale is deep throating Elon Musk right now in public and as always, that’s just gross.

Remember that massive tunnel project that was supposed to happen in Sydney? Nope. Not happening.

Cops claim to have found a new smuggling tunnel linking Mexico and the US, though I gotta ask, what do they do with all these well built tunnels that are found? I’m assuming they fill them in but we’re talking about valuable infrastructure here 😛

Bando Burning up and Biting the Dust
This is fantastic: a thirty year old homeless woman in Salt Lake city burned down an old apartment building because she was mad at whoever else was living in there.

So many other ‘bandos burned up in the last few days. We’ve got an old homeless shelter in Shreveport, storefronts in East Los Angeles, shitholes in Commerce, Texas and Marysville, WA and a long abandoned school in Sadieville, KY. In this last case, two scruffy looking ‘adults’ were ratted out and confessed to the crime.

Wrap up...
So many things in the works. Just blew past the 100k word count on my novel (which features quite a bit of retro 1991 graffiti and urban exploring), and am rebooting a previously published book with a ton of new chapters.

I absolutely love when y'all share personal stories of friends relatives etc who worked in these places. It really helps capture what these places were like before they closed up shop.

If you're feeling salty, argumentative comments completely devoid of facts (supply links to support your argument) will not be published. Got a case to state? come with the details.
